Breaking the Silence is an artistic research project that aims to investigate patterns of discrimination in both the physical & digital realm.

Borrowing the term ‘affective economies,’ coined by scholar Sara Ahmed, the project will look into how emotions circulate in cultural and political spheres.

Join us on our first phase of the project, as we explore the following Qs :

• How do bodies come together and grow apart?

• What is the role of perception, technology, language and sign in shaping and unveiling affective encounters?

• In a broader context, how do such affective encounters create power dynamics in social & political spheres?

Keywords : Subject, Object, digital, physical, power dynamics, gender roles, interpersonal.

The project is supported by Creative Industries Fund NL

At this stage, I’m dedicating my time between research and learning as I would like to take the project further to develop an interactive sound installation and link it to facial & speech recognition technology.

If you have any tips, advice or feel like collaborating, I would love to hear from you!
